Half old-style candy shop, half coffee parlor, the Sweet Coffee Shop in King’s Heath is a cozy spot to stop by for a sweet treat and a hot drink. Of course, we’re here for the latter, and the coffee from this place gives us something worth noting.
They clearly use a blend with a strongly acidic profile, yet the result is far from a trainwreck. This confirms that all those dreadful espressos we panned in the past for being extremely acidic, sometimes undrinkable, were not just victims of our personal preference for a less acidic flavor.
Indeed, this espresso, made with a Fracino machine, was acidic and genuinely good. Strong, rich in flavor, and at the perfect temperature. Yes, my friends, it is possible. If every espresso made with an acidic-leaning blend tasted like this, the world would be a better place.
