SOHO COFFE, Bullring Shopping Centre

Soho’s espresso is absolutely solid. Strong enough in flavor, with a slight hint of acidity, yet well balanced overall. Perhaps not rich enough to deserve a three-cup rating, though still a coffee that won’t let you down. It’s also one of the few places where the espresso is almost always served at the proper temperature.

This leads naturally to another point. Once, I dropped by and the espresso tasted different than usual. It was watery and lukewarm. This underlines how the final result depends on several human and mechanical factors beyond the coffee itself. If any of them are off, the outcome can be poor. It’s also a reminder that a single hot drink rarely gives you enough information to know whether a place suits your taste. Unless it fails clearly on every front, give it the benefit of the doubt and try again.
