As far as the ambiance goes, J&H is one of the coffee places I like the most in Birmingham. It is classy and neat without being unnecessarily posh, and some nice lights to give it a warm and cozy touch.
I wish the espresso were as good as the premises but, unfortunately, it is not. Their machine is a Victoria Arduino, and the coffee served delves too much on the acidic side of the spectrum. It’s not undrinkable, but it’s way far from a pleasant experience either.
The food is good and the service is nice, so it just lands in the long list of places that are fine as long as you don’t go there for an espresso.
